OFFICER OF THE MONTH – INTERVIEW

Through this interview session, we highlight the selected officer’s profile and perspectives as both an appreciation and an inspiration for all department members.
Jamal Green
Detective III
What inspired you to pursue a career in law enforcement with the Los Santos Police Department?
After serving in the United States Marine Corps for over eight years, I retired from military service. Upon returning home to Los Santos, I found it difficult to adjust to civilian life and felt a strong sense of purpose was missing when I was no longer serving my country. Driven by my continued commitment to public service, I made the decision to join the Los Santos Police Department in order to pursue my law enforcement career and continue serving my country and community.
What has been your most memorable case or operation since joining the department?
I think when i was D-1, i responded to Sergeant Catherine call for traffic stop. Then we got ambushed, shotsfired, then i completely secured Sergeant Catherine's life as a back-up unit in that scene. Nobody's injured, but the suspects.
How do you maintain professionalism and composure under pressure in the field?
I always go by the book, no hard feelings, and always keeping myself away from personal things if i'm on uniform. Because i'm here to enforce the law. So if somebody breaking the rules, even thou it's department's member, i still enforce the law no matter what.
What are your long-term career goals within the Los Santos Police Department?
I don't have goals, actually in the LSPD. I just wanted to keep presume my service to the country as the member of LSPD. Other than that? I just go by the flow. Like what i metioned before, i'm here just to serve my country and to enforce the law.
What does being selected as Officer of the Month mean to you personally and professionally?
To be honest.. it's nothing to me **chuckles** I don't even think about that.
Who has been your biggest mentor or role model in the department?
To me? It's Chief Casper. I always sees him as my mentor, that's all.
Which unit or division are you most interested in joining in the future, and why?
My current division right now is Central Detective, as an Officer-In-Charge. I don't think i will leaving the division even in the future.
What advice would you give to new recruits who are just starting their career in law enforcement?
Always go by the book, and always remember that you're the servant to these civillians. You don't see them as a threat unless they have the probable cause to threat you.
How do you balance duty, responsibility, and personal life as a police officer?
I always put my duty first over personal life. Because i've been commited to it.
What message would you like to share with the citizens of Los Santos regarding public safety and cooperation with law enforcement?
We're here to serve you and protect, if you feel threaten by our presence you must be in the wrong. Because only criminals feels that way when they sees us.
