REHIRING PROGRAM
A qualified retired Los Santos police officer may, with the approval of the Chief of Police, be returned to active duty or may, at the request of the Chief of Police, be recalled to active duty. A vacancy must exist in the rank to which the retired officer is being returned or recalled.
To be eligible for return to active duty, a retired officer shall:
- Retired based on service rather than disability and was not dishonorably terminated;
- Be less than fifty-five years of age;
- Have been retired for not longer than one year on the date of application for return to active duty;
- Have not actively employed by other State Agencies that would prevent employment with the Department;
- Have been a sergeant, detective, or police officer on the date of his/her retirement; and
- Have made written application to Staff Officers for return to active duty.
